FREE COUNSELLING SERVICE FROM ‘NATIONAL FAMILY MEDIATION’ – FOR HOSTS AND GUESTS

Many hosts have generously stepped forward to offer homes to Ukrainians in need. Having negotiated the difficulties of visas and travel and once the dust settles from the upheaval, families are now dealing with the reality of sharing their homes and spaces. Living with anyone is not easy at the best of times and most things have to be negotiated so that a comfortable compromise for peaceful coexistence can emerge. Add into the mix language barriers, cultural differences, new family constructs and financial pressures and there is a recipe for those well-intentioned actions to quickly deteriorate as communication problems prevent the growth of understanding and mutual support.
National Family Mediation has launched a free, confidential service that is designed specifically to help resolve any issues that exist so that understanding and harmony can be achieved within the home. For further information and online registration (also in Ukrainian) –  click here

Our Green Hub Teen Garden is a calm, safe space for young people and is in Milford, near Godalming. NHS (Healthcare) Services

HOW TO REGISTER WITH A DOCTOR / SURGERY

All Ukrainians arriving in UK / Guildford will be able to access NHS healthcare free of charge, including GP and nurse consultations, hospital services, and urgent care centres.

GPs (general Practitioners) are the first point of contact for nearly all NHS patients. They can direct you to other NHS services and are experts in family medicine, preventative care, health education, and treating people with multiple and long-term conditions.

If you’re planning to live and work in England, you need to register with a GP practice.  You’ll need to fill out a GMS1 form using exactly the same details you used when you filled out your visa.  It’s up to the GP practice (also called Surgery) to decide whether to accept new patients or not, but they can only refuse for non-discriminatory reasons.

Being registered with a GP practice does not in itself mean you’ll be entitled to free NHS hospital treatment.  Being registered with a GP practice may mean you’re invited for NHS screening services, but you may still have to pay for these services when they’re not provided by the GP practice.

Treatment will be free of charge, but make sure you present your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if you have one (see more information on this page for EU citizens).
